About me and my practice

I believe that each person is unique (and therefore one approach doesn't fit all), and that a holistic view is crucial to mental health and physicalwellbeing. I have spent the last 16 years developing an effective toolbox of various skills to draw upon, that will help you make sense of your situation, gain deeper clarity and understanding, and ultimately help to free yourself from the depths of your suffering.

I understand how scary it can feel entering in to such a relationship. At the start of my personal therapy journey, l felt lost and disconnected from my body, stuck in repeating unhealthy relationship patterns. I did not know where to go or how to change. Therapy gave me perceptive, support and guided me to discover a new sense of belonging and purpose.

My aim is to create a warm confidential safe space for you to feel respected, heard, understood and supported, enabling you to find meaning in your difficulties and bring about deep-seated and long-term change.

I can help you to explore your challenges, help you to reconnect with yourself, and strengthen your own internal resources, as well as teach you new techniques that will support your growth.

I can offer a listening ear, free of any judgement, or assumptions, to help you to understand and befriend the "noise" in your head, identify and break free from unhealthy and unhelpful patterns.

If preferred, and/or in addition, I can also offer a more structured approach and plan of treatment for specific issues, including anxiety, trauma, sexual issues, stress, and depression. Therapy for these kinds of issues is likely to involve practice or homework between sessions, to make the most of the treatment.

Although I work with most presentations, I particularly enjoy supporting people facing issues around sexual trauma/difficulties, domesticabuse, LGBTQIA identity issues , anxiety, depression and stress related issues.

l offer individual and couples talking therapy sessions.

Additional Information

Therapy can stir up many emotions that have been hidden or unprocessed, which might include potential negative side effects. It is really important to feel able to discuss this in advance and make sensible plans to manage any increase in distress.

In order to be the best possible counsellor that I can be for my clients and in accordance with BACP guidelines I work under ongoing professional supervision from a senior practitioner.

My commitment to professional and personal development means that I regularly undertake further training in the form of counselling courses, workshops, research and reading.
